Art Category: 1970s
This was a momentous decade for me. In late 1970 I found myself drawing small whimsical pictures instead of the larger canvases. as always, I followed my instincts and let it happen. (several examples are shown here) The following year I grew my first vegetable garden. It was spectacular; even things I didn’t plant (like corn) sprouted up. In Nov. as the plants began to die, I began to write. Madly. About everything I loved, like the day passing, like my garden. This evolved into words and pictures in sketchbooks. Many of the sketchbooks became published children’s picture boos (see books) From then on, I’ve divided my time between writing and painting. writing personal essays has been ongoing (see THE SKY AND ME under what’s going on)
